Vertep (The nativity scene) is a Christmas tradition and the pearl of Ukrainian holidays. From the origins: its roots go back to Greek culture and are associated with the holiday of Dionysus - the biggest holiday among the Greeks in honor of the god of wine and joy, which is accompanied by loud fun and theatrical action in the form of a puppet show.<br />
Nowadays: in Ukraine, the nativity scene appeared in the 17-18th centuries and became a Christmas tradition of the annual celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ. The Christmas carol, dressing up, re-enactment of biblical stories is a tradition that preserves the connection between generations of the Ukrainian Christmas.
